Canada is a destination which is always popular with British visitors.
Very few people only visit once as this is such a huge country it is almost impossible to do it justice in a single trip.

The cities all have their own character from cosmopolitan Vancouver with its harbour front setting and backdrop of scenic mountains, to quirky Quebec with its narrow streets of 17th and 18th century buildings.

With the frequency of internal flights it is now easy to visit several cities during one holiday.

There are also lesser known areas to consider such as the Atlantic Provinces. Their wonderful coastlines and maritime history are a fascinating alternative to the main tourist areas.

You might also like to think of Manitoba, which is one of the best places in the world to see polar bears in the wild.

If your time allows then travelling between cities by train is an excellent option. Canada has a terrific rail network with some stunning train journeys.

The most popular is the Rocky Mountaineer, which is one of the most beautiful rail journeys in the world. As all of the travelling takes place during daylight hours you don’t miss any of the fantastic scenery.

Many people take the train westbound and finish in their journey in Vancouver. From there they can join a cruise ship to sail up to Alaska.

It’s a great way to finish your holiday with a lovely relaxing voyage through some of the most amazing scenery in the world
